Description of Hourly and Hourlyf CSV Files
Introduction
HOURLY and HOURLYF CSV files are prepared from the SCN binary files. The SCN software builds records that include data from all of the sectors of an LECP scan. Data for which the motor position is unknown are placed in the “Sector 9” (also array index 9) position. Sector 10 contains the best estimate of the average values for a scan. The stepping motor takes the instrument through the sequence 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 (full scan) or 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,8,7,6,5,4,3,2 (limited scan), and in some circumstances, parked. When the LECP instrument was parked, the scan software writes out records at reasonable time intervals where only the index corresponding to the parked position contains data. The HOURLYF files are prepared from severely filtered FAT files. Noisy HOURLY data can be compared to HOURLYF data on a record by record basis to identify spurious numbers. HOURLY data may also be compared to STEP data for validation.
Naming Conventions for HOURLY and HOURLYF CSV Files
The syntax is:
VSYYDDDFHCC.CSV where:
S = 1 or 2 (identifying Voyager 1 or Voyager 2 data, respectively)
YY = two digit year number (77 through ??)
DDD = three digit day of year (for file start time)
“F” Denotes that the data are filtered (this character is not present for unfiltered data)
“H” Denotes ASCII HOURLY Listing
CC = Channel number from the table below.
